In addition to specialty inks such as fluorescent, glitter, glo etc, there are various ways we can achieve further effects with a print. Some variations are..
Standard opaque print:
Using a double coat of ink every time ensures 100% coverage and clarity of design. This is the most widely used and commonly-expected finish.
Single hit print:
A single hit print is the simplest way to achieve a worn, “vintagey” look. Applying only one coat of ink allows for dye migration and creates a less opaque finish. This effect works best with light coloured inks on dark garments (white on black etc)
Thinned ink print:
For opacity, this effect really only works well upon white or light coloured garments, as the purposefully thinned out ink will sink into the fabric and the colour will blend more with the shirt colour. This is another good way to achieve a “worn/vintagey” style to a light ink-dark garment print
